Now here’s a crazy testimony! On my way to evangelize in the city of Kitgum (approximately a 2 mile walk), My teammates, Rachel and Sarah, and I were feeling rather discouraged because we had not actually been able to sit down and “counsel” someone (like we were originally told we would be doing). As we reached the brim of the city, we walked past a sewing shop called “Addy’s”; a woman yelled at us, “Hey, aren’t you guys counselors or something?” to which we responded, “Yes.” She then proceeded to motion for the three of us to come into the shop as she called out, “I need counseling! Come counsel me!” We thought she was joking, but we didn’t hesitate to go in the shop. As we entered, we chatted with the three ladies working there, and we talked about how hot it was and how we had all put an African weave in our hair (making it even more hot). Then the woman, Priscilla, holding a chair, looked at us with a sassy countenance and said, “Can we go to somewhere private? All four of us?” So we got up, and followed her into the back of the shop into a stuffy dark changing room. She set up four chairs for us, and sat down. She then proceeded to literally share her entire life story with us, and she asked us for direction for what she should do about the current situations she has found herself trapped in; with her permission, I can share that one of the predicaments was that she wanted to go to nursing school, but she had absolutely no money to pay for it. We were able to offer our counseling skills, encouragement, personal testimonies, and some teachings from the Bible. One aspect of what I shared with her was how God cannot be limited to our circumstances; I pinched my fingers together, and told her how if we put God in a box this small, we only allow Him to act (pinching my fingers together) this big. At the end of our time, we prayed for her, and then set up a follow up time to meet with her within the next two days.

Two days after we had counselled and prayed for Priscilla, I went back and gave her a letter of encouragement that I had written her; when I got there she said, “Did you hear the news?” Obviously, I had no idea what she was referring to so I told her, “No! What news?” She gave me a half grin and said, the day after you prayed for me, my uncle called, and he said he wanted to pay my school fees so that I can study.” I literally was so ecstatic I could have fallen out of my chair! I am in awe that God saw her faith, and blessed her for choosing to believe that He couldn’t be limited by life’s circumstances.

I am in awe of this crazy experience! God directed us to this woman, and used us to poor life into her! So good!
